John 8:46

Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me? (ESV)

  1. Jesus is saying, ‘can you find any sin in me? Can you prove or show any example in which I have sinned’ He is saying, ‘you won’t find it. Because I am sinless. Because I am blameless. Because I am righteousness. And because of that–the things that I say are true. The things that I say are of God. Because I am God.’

If any ever says, “Jesus never claimed to be without sin. He never claimed to be perfect?” You take them to this verse because that IS the very thing he is claiming. He is claiming this not to boast but to prove that he does not lie. That when he speaks, his words are true. And so when he speaks truth about God, it is true. When he rebukes the hearts of men, it is true.

And when we abide in His words, we abide in truth.
